The pharmaceutical business Rusan Pharma opened a new facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

With an annual production capacity of 400 metric tons of APIs, this plant is estimated to generate over 300 employment. The factory is housed within the Pithampur Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and the business has invested Rs 300 crore in it.

Rusan Pharma plans to expand its API capacity with the new facility in order to address the growing demand for its pain management and addiction treatment medicines both domestically and abroad.

The company is known for developing innovative products, such as Buprenorphine Sublingual and Buprenorphine Naloxone Sublingual Tablets for drug abuse treatment, Apomorphine Injections for Parkinson's treatment, and indigenous formulations of Fentanyl, Buprenorphine, and Lidocaine transdermal patches for moderate to severe pain.

Additionally, they produce Nicotine transdermal patches for tobacco cessation.
