A Memorandum of Understanding was inked by the Maharashtra government and Renew Power Ltd to establish a Rs 20,000 crore renewable energy project in Nagpur.
According to a public release, the project will cover 500 acres and provide 8000–10000 direct and indirect jobs.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) was also signed by the company and the state industries department, the statement added.
Earlier, the state government had inked MoUs with Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Mahaurja and Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) for development of 5,220 MW renewable energy projects in the state.
The Maharashtra government is promoting renewable energy projects in the state in order to meet the growing demand for electricity.
