Manufacturing  -  Jul 05,2023  -

India will start construction on its first semiconductor assembly facility in August, and by the end of 2024, it will begin producing its first domestically produced microchips.

According to a source, India intends to start construction on its first semiconductor assembly factory in August and start making its first domestically produced microchips by the end of 2024.

According to Gujarat's information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Micron Technology will start building a $2.75 billion chip assembly and testing plant there next month.

Earlier this June, the US-based semiconductor behemoth, Micron Technology, had announced its plans to set up a new assembly and test facility in Gujarat, in an ambitious $825-million dollar investment. This facility will enable the assembly and test manufacturing for both DRAM and MAM products, addressing demand from both domestic and international markets.
