Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) will commission the first phase of its 40 GWh battery and cell gigafactory in Jamnagar, Gujarat, this year, with plans to expand capacity to 120 GWh, making it a major global producer of LFP batteries.

The facility is part of the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, which includes solar, fuel cell, green hydrogen, and power electronics manufacturing. RIL is also developing a 5.5 lakh-acre renewable energy hub in Kutch, expected to generate over 40 billion units of green electricity annually.

The Jamnagar and Kutch projects are projected to create around 2 lakh jobs. RIL has also signed a $3 billion green ammonia offtake deal with Samsung C&T and is pursuing additional export agreements to support its long-term green hydrogen ambitions.
