RBI’s ₹169 Crore Greenfield Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Info Valley-II, Khordha, Odisha, Set for Inauguration on October 25
The Reserve Bank of India’s new greenfield Data Centre and Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute is set to be inaugurated on October 25. The facility is at Info Valley-II in Khordha district, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It has been developed at a cost of ₹169 crore on a campus of 18.55 acres.
The data centre will serve as a backup to the RBI’s primary data centre at Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. It is designed to support currency management, payment and settlement systems, and regulatory data operations. The infrastructure uses fault-tolerant systems and multi-layer redundancy to meet global reliability benchmarks.
Construction began after the foundation stone was laid on March 22, 2023. The integrated campus is now ready to support the RBI’s data management, disaster recovery and cybersecurity frameworks.
Khordha was chosen for its distance from seismically vulnerable fault lines and high-risk border zones. The site is also away from heavy digital traffic corridors and subsea cable landing points. Mumbai and Chennai were passed over for this reason.
The campus also houses the Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute. It will focus on research, capacity building and skill development in emerging technology domains. The source does not name contractors or give the facility’s IT load capacity.
