Infrastructure  -  Aug 13,2024  -

Rajasthan state govt is planning to construct five out of the nine expressways by 2030 and the remaining four later.

Public Works Department (PWD) has planned to float tenders to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPIs) for eight expressways together, Officials said that among the nine, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is already preparing the DPH for the Jaipur-Jodhpur-Pachpadra Expressway and it will take at least six to seven more months to complete it.

Sharing details of the other projects, a senior PWD official said instructions have come from the finance department to float tenders for all the remaining eight expressways soon. PWD will soon float separate tenders for each of the eight expressways, he said.

"A lot of land needs to be acquired for all the nine expressways. So, we want to prepare the DPRs as soon as possible. An instruction has reached us to float the tenders as soon as possible," a senior PWD official said.

As per the plan, apart from the Jaipur-Jodhpur-Pachpadra Expressway, the govt wants to complete the construction of the Kotputli-Kishangarh, Jaipur-Bhilwara, Bikaner-Kotputli, and the Beawar-Bharatpur expressways by 2030.

"As per the report of the Task Force Committee formed by the state govt, these five expressways are very much feasible for Public-Private Partnerships. The govt feels that work will get completed faster on a PPP model. So, the state govt has decided to construct the nine in a phased manner and selected these five expressways on priority," another PWD official said.
