Premier Energies Commissions India's Largest 7 GW Solar Cell Plant in Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, ₹3,293 Crore Investment
Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh, and has begun trial runs at the plant. The addition takes the company's total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW, which the company says makes it India's largest solar cell manufacturer.
The facility spans over 101 acres and was developed at a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore (approximately $343 million). It has a production capacity of around 88,000 solar cells per hour and incorporates digital systems and artificial intelligence for predictive performance analysis, process control and precision manufacturing, along with automated systems for material transport, packing and packaging. The plant also features a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system for water recycling and reuse.
The manufacturing line is designed to support future upgrades to TOPCon+ technologies, including poly-finger metallisation and advanced edge-isolation processes. Following stabilisation and ramp-up, the company is targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8 per cent.
The commissioning follows the company's 5.6 GW zero-busbar solar module manufacturing facility inaugurated in Seetharampur, Telangana in July 2026. Premier Energies is also developing a 10 GW ingot and wafer plant, and its wider expansion — including backward integration into ingots and wafers and diversification into inverters, transformers and battery energy storage systems — is supported by a ₹125 billion (~$1.3 billion) capital expenditure programme over three years. Separately, in September 2026 the company signed a binding term sheet with RCT India, part of Germany's RCT Group, for a joint venture to set up a 12 GWh battery energy storage system manufacturing facility in Telangana, with the first phase planned at 6 GWh.
