Garware Hi-Tech Films Partners with Lubrizol for Advanced TPU Film Solutions, Backing ₹118 Crore Waluj Extrusion Plant
Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd (GHFL) has entered a technical partnership with specialty chemicals company Lubrizol to develop advanced thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film solutions, as the Indian specialty film maker builds out its backward-integration capacity in TPU.
The collaboration supports GHFL's approved investment of ₹118 crore (INR 1.18 billion) in a new TPU extrusion plant at its Waluj facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The plant is expected to be commercially operational by October 2026, with an annual capacity of 360 LSF (Lakh Square Feet).
The Waluj site is a vertically integrated "chip-to-film" operation that also includes a polyester chips plant of 66,000 MTPA capacity, four BOPET film lines, extrusion coating and thermal lamination lines, metallising lines, and a dedicated Paint Protection Film (PPF) plant with 300 LSF annual capacity — the latter following a separate ₹125 crore (INR 1.25 billion) investment that began commercial production in September 2025.
The TPU plant is intended to strengthen GHFL's manufacturing capability, cost efficiency and product innovation as it expands its portfolio of automotive and architectural sun control films, paint protection films, and other specialty polyester films. GHFL exports to over 80–100 countries, with exports contributing around 69 per cent of sales.
