Premier Energies Commissions 7 GW Solar Cell Manufacturing Facility in Andhra Pradesh, Signs BESS JV Term Sheet
Premier Energies Limited has commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta, Andhra Pradesh. Spread across 101 acres, the facility has commenced trial runs and was developed at a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore (Rs 32.93 billion). It has a production capacity of approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour. With this addition, Premier Energies' total solar cell manufacturing capacity has increased to 10.6 GW.
The facility incorporates digital systems and artificial intelligence for predictive performance analysis, process control and precision manufacturing, along with fully automated transport, packing and packaging systems. It is designed to accommodate future upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ technology and is targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8% following stabilisation and ramp-up. The plant also incorporates a zero liquid discharge system for water recycling and reuse.
Separately, in September 2026, Premier Energies signed a binding term sheet with RCT India, part of Germany's RCT Group, to form a joint venture for setting up a 12 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Telangana. The facility will be developed through Premier Energies' subsidiary, Premier Battery Technologies Private Limited, with the first phase planned at 6 GWh capacity.
