Power Grid Corporation commissions transmission project under NERSS-XII

Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) has commissioned a project under “North Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme-XII (NERSS-XII)” with effect from 02 November, 2024.

The notification for commercial operation (DOCO) has been received on 23 November, 2024. NERSS-XII is an interstate scheme in the North-east.

PGCIL's board had approved investment for NERSS-XII at an estimated cost of Rs 576.42 crore.

According to information available with T&D India, PGCIL was awarded NERSS-XII under the regulated tariff mechanism (RTM) modality in FY21.

In May 2021, the board of directors of PGCIL had approved investment of Rs.576.42 crore towards NERSS-XII. The project was scheduled to commission progressively by March 2023.

It is further learnt that NERSS-XII involved re-conductoring of several existing transmission lines spread over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, etc.

In FY21 itself, according to information available with T&D India, PGCIL was awarded few other components of the overall North Eastern Region Strengthening Scheme, namely NERSS-XI, NERSS-XIII and NERSS-XIV.
