Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has commissioned the Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat to Increase ATC from ISTS, Part-B project, with commercial operations effective from 13 May 2026. The project, completed at an estimated cost of ₹4,546 crore, is designed to enhance Gujarat’s power transfer capacity from the interstate transmission system and support rising industrial and renewable energy demand.

The project’s key asset is the Navsari GIS Substation, featuring 4,500 MVA transformation capacity through multiple 765/400 kV and 400/220 kV transformers. It also includes augmentation of the Padghe GIS Substation with an additional 1,500 MVA transformer.

Part of a larger three-phase transmission expansion scheme, the project will strengthen power supply reliability in Gujarat, facilitate renewable energy evacuation, and improve electricity availability for industrial and urban load centers. Completion of associated 220 kV transmission lines in the Navsari region is expected to further enhance power flow capacity to the area.
