Oriana Power to build electrolyser gigafab for green hydrogen and e-fuels

Chemicals  -  Aug 08,2024  -

Oriana Power Ltd, a leading renewable energy firm in India, has unveiled plans to establish a gigawatt-scale factory dedicated to producing alkaline electrolyzers and balance-of-plant (BOP) modules domestically. This strategic initiative is a cornerstone of the company’s broader mission to advance the development of green hydrogen and e-fuels, such as green ammonia, e-methanol, and green methanol. The factory, set to significantly bolster India's renewable energy infrastructure, will be constructed in collaboration with Splitwaters, a US-based leader in electrolyzer and BOP technology.

The factory’s development will be executed in two phases, with the first phase targeting an annual capacity of 500 MW and expected to commence operations by 2026. The partnership with Splitwaters will enable Oriana Power to integrate cutting-edge electrolysis technology, enhancing the efficiency of hydrogen production from renewable sources. The BOP systems, integral to the factory, will manage essential functions including water supply, gas separation, and purification, ensuring the electrolyzers operate at peak performance. This collaboration and new facility will position Oriana Power as a key player in the renewable energy sector, driving advancements in sustainable energy solutions and contributing to India's green energy goals.
