Oil India Limited (OIL) and the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), located in Visakhapatnam, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU was signed by IbhaKalita, general manager (R&D) of OIL, and IIPE director Shalivahan.

A R&D project worth 1.25 crore was given to the IIPE by the OIL as part of the MoU. The collaboration project's principal investigator will be Dr.Kumud M. Tripathi from the Department of Humanities & Sciences, IIPE, who has a speciality in chemistry.

The research effort focuses on using biomass-based graphene aerogels to capture CO2 and convert it to green fuel. The joint research is in keeping with IIPE and OIL's goals of creating ground-breaking green energy technology.
