Odisha Cabinet Approves ₹176.83 Crore Disaster Recovery-cum-Data Centre at Keonjhar
The Odisha Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has approved a Disaster Recovery-cum-Data Centre (DR-cum-DC) at Keonjhar with an outlay of ₹176.83 crore. The cabinet decision was announced on October 13.
The facility will be built on the South Campus of Dharanidhar University at Keonjhar. It is being developed by the Electronics and IT Department through OCAC and will serve as a backup to the state data centre in Bhubaneswar.
The centre is meant to strengthen business continuity, disaster recovery and cyber resilience. It will keep databases and common platforms available for Government-to-Business and Government-to-Citizen services. The state government chose Keonjhar partly because it is less earthquake-prone.
The Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for the project in February 2026, when it was cited at ₹187 crore. The source does not give IT load, rack capacity, a construction timeline or contractor details.
