NXTRA to invest Rs 5,000 crore to expand data center capacity to 400 MW in three years

Infrastructure  -  Nov 11,2024  -

NXTRA, the data center subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has announced plans to invest ₹5,000 crore over the next three years. The company aims to significantly boost its data center capacity, doubling it to 400 MW during this period.

This investment is part of NXTRA's strategy to capitalize on the growing demand for digital services in India, driven by trends like cloud adoption, the expansion of digital infrastructure, and the rise of 5G technology.

The company is set to expand its data center footprint across key cities, focusing on enhancing its infrastructure capabilities. The additional capacity will enable NXTRA to support businesses as they transition to cloud-based solutions and scale their digital operations.

The expansion will also align with the broader goal of making India a hub for data processing and storage, particularly as the government pushes for more localized data solutions in the face of increasing cybersecurity concerns.

NXTRA's data centers serve a wide range of sectors, including telecom, financial services, government, and large enterprises. The move is seen as a step toward strengthening the country's digital ecosystem, in line with global trends toward data sovereignty and security.

By doubling its capacity, NXTRA expects to capture a larger share of the growing data center market in India, which is expected to see increased investments in the coming years due to the surge in demand for data storage and processing.
