Nine companies bid for Kanpur Metro Line-2 Underground Work

Infrastructure  -  Jul 14,2023  -

Nine companies, three of whom are part of a consortium, have made bids for the 8.6 km (four miles) long Line-2 of the Kanpur Metro, which will connect Rawatpur and Jaurali via eight stops.

Through three subterranean stations at Rawatpur, Kakadeo, and Double Pullia, the underground package KNPCC-11 of Kanpur Metro Phase 1 will connect Agriculture Depot with Double Pullia Ramp. I estimate that this twin-tunnel segment is about 3.2 kilometres long.

In February 2023, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) issued a request for proposals for this contract, with a Rs. 1025 crore estimated value and a 30 month timeframe. A technical bid opening was place this afternoon.

The bids have now been sent for technical evaluation which should take a couple months to complete. When that is done, the financial bids of the technically qualified bidders will be opened to reveal who’s the lowest bidder and most likely contractor.

Like Phase 1’s other 2 underground sections, UPMRC will likely require KNPCC-11’s contractor to use at least 2 tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for constructing 6 tunnels.
