NHAI's ₹603 Crore PR-07 Spur Linking NH-205A to Zirakpur Bypass to Start Construction in December
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to begin construction in December on the PR-07 spur, a 10.3-km six-lane, access-controlled link connecting the Ambala-Chandigarh stretch of NH-205A with the upcoming Zirakpur bypass. The spur will begin near Rajomajra village in Dera Bassi and end near D-Mart in Zirakpur on PR7 (Airport Road), where it will merge with the bypass.
The Letter of Award for the spur, valued at around ₹603 crore, was issued to Ceigall Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd. following the opening of financial bids in March 2026. A parallel contract for the connecting Zirakpur-Panchkula bypass, valued at around ₹1,380 crore, was awarded to RKCPL Limited. Together, the two works carry a combined on-ground project cost of approximately ₹1,983 crore.
Once complete, the spur is intended to route long-distance and inter-state traffic directly from the NH-205A expressway onto the Zirakpur bypass, bypassing the congested junctions of Zirakpur, Dera Bassi and Panchkula. NHAI has described it as the structural link needed to complete high-capacity circumnavigation of the Chandigarh Tricity urban core.
The project forms part of the broader Tricity Ring Road initiative aimed at decongesting NH-44, NH-205A and NH-152, and is expected to improve connectivity between Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, including routes toward Shimla. NHAI has previously indicated a target completion timeline of late 2027 for the spur, with the bypass expected by early 2028.
