Nashik Municipal Corporation Plans PPP Waste-to-CNG Plant Ahead of Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027
The Nashik Municipal Corporation is planning to set up a 'Waste-to-CNG' plant ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027, Mayor Himgauri Ahire-Adke announced at a press conference.
The project will be executed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) basis at a site previously reserved for a composting plant. The initiative is aimed at scientifically managing the large volume of waste expected to be generated during the Kumbh Mela, including waste from 16 surrounding villages, for which a proposal has been received from the district administration.
Municipal officials have inspected a similar waste-to-CNG facility in Pune as part of the planning process. Following this assessment, the project proposal will be submitted for approval at the corporation's upcoming General Body meeting.
Deputy Mayor Vilas Shinde and Standing Committee Chairman Machhindra Sanap were present when the plan was announced. The waste-to-CNG facility forms part of a broader push by the Nashik Municipal Corporation on waste management and road infrastructure ahead of the 2027 Kumbh Mela.
