Infrastructure Jul 07,2026

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone of the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Smart Industrial Park and Convention Centre in Bhopal's Kolar area on July 6, 2026. The project is expected to generate employment for more than 15,000 people and mark a step toward developing a new industrial corridor around the state capital.

The Smart Industrial Park will be developed over approximately 173 acres at Satgarhi and will feature modern roads, IT-enabled infrastructure, AI-based facilities, logistics support, warehouses and advanced industrial utilities. It is designed on a "work-live-grow" model to host manufacturing, IT, AI, garments, toys, logistics and other emerging industries.

As part of the same development, a convention and exhibition centre with seating capacity for over 10,000 people will be built over 25 acres at Satgarhi, positioned as the largest convention centre in Madhya Pradesh. The project also includes sustainable infrastructure such as smart water management, sewage treatment, EV charging stations and air quality monitoring systems.

The Satgarhi site is located about 25 km from Raja Bhoj Airport and 15 km from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, with the proposed Western Bypass of Bhopal also set to pass through the area. Around 200 industrialists, investors and industry association representatives attended the foundation-laying ceremony, reflecting the state's continued push to position Bhopal as a major industrial and investment hub.
