MP Cabinet Approves ₹1,757.55 Crore for Bhopal-Vidisha Four-Lane Road Under Hybrid Annuity Model
The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has sanctioned ₹1,757.55 crore to widen the existing 44.83-km Bhopal-Vidisha road from two lanes to four lanes with paved shoulders. The project will be executed under a hybrid annuity model, with the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation meeting 40 percent of the construction cost, including GST, through the State Highway Fund.
The road-widening project forms part of a broader package of proposals worth nearly ₹47,990 crore approved by the Cabinet, and is aimed at supporting the state government's plan to develop Bhopal as a metropolitan region. Paved shoulders on the widened corridor are intended to reduce the risk of fatal crashes and improve safety for pedestrians and slow-moving vehicles.
The government said the improved corridor will make travel between the state capital, Vidisha, and nearby towns safer and faster, benefiting daily commuters, agricultural movement, and access to Bhopal's education and healthcare facilities. The project is also expected to serve as a basis for accelerating industrial investment in the corridor.
Alongside the road project, the Cabinet separately approved an increase in the Bhopal Bypass Toll Tax Fee Collection period on a 51.963-km stretch until December 31, 2031, effective from July 19, 2026, with the Public Works Department assigned to extend its operational time limit by an additional five years.
