Motherson Electro Components Begins Production at New ₹94 Crore Greenfield Electronics Plant in Pune
Samvardhana Motherson has announced the commencement of commercial production at a new greenfield electronics manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra, operated through its subsidiary Motherson Electro Components Limited (MECL).
The plant adds dedicated Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) capability within the group's Lighting and Electronics vertical. The facility will manufacture printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA), electronic control units (ECU), and other associated automotive electronic components.
Operations have begun with an initial installed capacity of approximately 1.5 million pieces per annum, with provisions to scale up output in subsequent phases. Total investment in the greenfield facility stands at approximately ₹94 crore as of date.
The company said the facility received its official consent to operate on August 25, 2026. The plant is positioned to strengthen Motherson's internal sourcing of critical electronic components across its automotive value chain, reducing reliance on external suppliers for these components.
