Milky Mist Commissions ₹40 Crore Skyr and Greek Yogurt Plant at Perundurai, Tamil Nadu
Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited has commissioned a new Skyr and Greek Yogurt manufacturing plant using ultrafiltration technology at its integrated manufacturing facility in Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, effective September 10, 2026. The facility was built at an investment of approximately ₹40 crore and has been financed through a combination of internal accruals and IPO proceeds.
The new plant takes the company's processing capacity for the category up to 150 tonnes per day, up from an existing 20-tonnes-per-day facility that was operating at full capacity utilisation. Milky Mist had installed its original customised multi-product yogurt manufacturing line in 2022, becoming the first company in India to introduce ultrafiltration technology for Skyr and Greek Yogurt production.
The company said annual category demand has grown more than 50 per cent since 2022, with demand for high-protein yogurts specifically more than doubling in recent months, prompting the capacity expansion.
The facility forms part of Milky Mist's broader expansion and modernisation programme at Perundurai, one of the stated objects of the company's initial public offering. Dr. K Rathnam, whole-time director and CEO of Milky Mist Dairy Food, said the commissioning represents a strategic expansion of the company's technological capabilities to serve rising demand and expand the high-protein dairy category.
