Meta and CleanMax Partner to Develop 837 MW of New Solar and Wind Capacity Across Rajasthan and Karnataka
Meta Platforms Inc. and CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions Limited have announced a renewable energy partnership for the development of over 900 MW of clean energy capacity in India. Under the agreement, CleanMax will develop and operate 837 MW of new large-scale solar and wind projects across Rajasthan and Karnataka. Meta will purchase 100 per cent of the environmental attributes generated by these projects. Combined with previously announced projects between the two companies, the total partnership capacity now exceeds 900 MW.
The new capacity additions form part of Meta's strategy to match its electricity consumption with 100 per cent clean and renewable energy, and to address value chain emissions associated with its operations in the region. India's growing role as a hub for Meta's digital and AI infrastructure — including the recently announced 168 MW AI-enabled data centre at Jamnagar in partnership with Reliance Industries — underpins the company's need to secure large-scale renewable energy offtake in the country.
CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions, a developer and operator of commercial and industrial renewable energy projects in India, will be responsible for project development, construction, and operations across the Rajasthan and Karnataka sites. Specific project locations, capacity splits between solar and wind, investment size, and commissioning timelines have not been disclosed in the announcement.
