Mecpower Solutions Signs MoU with Gujarat for ₹160 Crore, 5 GWh Battery Storage Assembly Facility at Karjan
Mecpower Solutions, a solar infrastructure and clean energy company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Gujarat to set up a proposed 5 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assembly facility at Karjan. The proposed investment is approximately ₹160 crore.
The facility is intended to support domestic manufacturing of battery energy storage systems, which are used to integrate renewable energy into the grid and improve grid stability and reliability.
The plant is proposed as an assembly facility for BESS units aimed at utility-scale, commercial and industrial applications, contributing to India's push for domestic battery storage manufacturing capacity.
Gujarat has been positioning itself as a hub for industrial and clean energy manufacturing investment, and the proposed Karjan facility adds to the state's energy storage manufacturing base. No timeline for construction or commissioning of the facility was disclosed in the announcement.
