Mahindra Moves Ahead with 1,500-Acre Integrated Auto and Tractor Plant in Nagpur
Mahindra & Mahindra is moving ahead with its largest integrated manufacturing complex in India, with the first 800-acre land parcel now being taken up for development at Additional Butibori in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The wider facility will eventually span 1,500 acres across the Vidarbha region.
The greenfield plant is being planned as a flexible manufacturing hub capable of producing internal-combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles, and tractors on common lines, allowing the company to adjust its production mix as demand shifts across powertrain technologies. Once fully operational, the site is expected to have an annual capacity of more than 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, together exceeding 6 lakh units, supporting Mahindra's growing SUV, EV and tractor businesses.
The project will be supported by a separate 150-acre supplier park coming up in Sambhajinagar, where components will be manufactured for the new Nagpur facility as well as Mahindra's existing plants at Chakan and Nashik.
Alongside the physical construction, Mahindra is putting in place processes to identify, develop and skill talent for manufacturing across multiple powertrains and future technologies, in preparation for the plant's eventual operations.
The Nagpur complex is set to become Mahindra's largest integrated manufacturing facility in the country, reinforcing Vidarbha's positioning as a hub for large-scale automotive manufacturing investment.
