Luxembourg's IPC Proposes ₹83,480 Crore Green Hydrogen and Data Centre Platform in Bengaluru-Tumakuru, Karnataka
Luxembourg-based Innovation Platform Capital (iPC), a company with interests in digital infrastructure, renewable energy and green hydrogen, has proposed investing ₹83,480 crore in Karnataka across three phases. The proposal was disclosed by Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil following a meeting with iPC Managing Partner and Chairman Gursharan Singh Kundan and his team.
The project is planned as an integrated Bengaluru-Tumakuru green hydrogen and hyperscale data centre platform, with a combined capacity across all three phases of 2,250 MW of IT load and 1,000 MW of green hydrogen production.
The first phase, requiring a gross investment of ₹17,114 crore, includes two 200 MW data centre campuses along with a 500 MW green hydrogen and power complex. For this phase, iPC has requested about 1,000 acres of land, split roughly evenly between the data centre and green hydrogen components at approximately 400 acres each, with the remaining 200 acres earmarked for safety and environmental buffer zones around the hydrogen facility.
The project is expected to require around 13 million litres of water per day, with 80-85% intended to come from treated industrial wastewater or CETP effluent rather than fresh water sources.
The proposal comes amid broader interest from global investors in Karnataka's green hydrogen and digital infrastructure sectors, with the state having previously drawn cumulative green hydrogen investment proposals worth around ₹2 lakh crore since 2022.
