Lloyds Metals & Energy Set to Enter TMT Bar Manufacturing Segment, Targets Central and Southern India

Lloyds Metals & Energy is preparing to enter the TMT bar manufacturing segment, with the company's first products expected to reach the market in over six months, according to industry reports. The move marks an expansion of the company's product portfolio beyond its existing wire-rod and round bar offerings.

The company is looking to expand its presence across central and southern India, supported by continued infrastructure-related steel demand in these regions. TMT bars are widely used in construction and infrastructure projects, and the segment entry positions Lloyds Metals to tap into this demand alongside its existing value-added steel products.

The move builds on Lloyds Metals' broader integrated steel expansion centred in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, where the company operates India's largest single iron ore mine and has been scaling up pellet, sponge iron and steelmaking capacity. The company has previously outlined plans to establish a 1.2 MTPA wire-rod capacity integrated steel plant, to be followed by a 3 MTPA hot-rolled coil (HRC) plant, as part of a broader multi-year investment programme in the region targeting an annual steelmaking capacity of six million tonnes by 2030.

Lloyds Metals currently produces wire rods, round bars and flat steel products, alongside its core iron ore mining and sponge iron operations. The TMT bar entry adds a further value-added product line aimed at capturing demand from India's construction and infrastructure sectors.
