Automotive Industries  -  Sep 27,2023  -

Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO), a fertiliser cooperative, is investing roughly Rs 1,100 Crore to develop three ethanol manufacturing plants that will use maize and broken rice as feedstock.

These three plants, each with a daily capacity of 250 kilo litres, are under construction in Gujarat, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh. KRIBHCO aims to supply ethanol to oil marketing companies (OMCs) for blending with petrol.

KRIBHCO established a wholly-owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named ‘KRIBHCO Green Energy Private Limited’ to facilitate the development of three bioethanol projects at Hazira in Gujarat, Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, and Jagtial in Telangana.

This SPV has secured both environmental clearance and in-principle approval from the Department of Food and Public Distribution for an interest subvention scheme covering all three projects.

Additionally, the SPV has awarded Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) contracts for all three bioethanol projects to Excel Engineers and Consultants.
