JSW Steel has secured a letter of intent (LoI) from Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL) for the role of washery developer & operator at Dugda Coal Washery, Bokaro, Jharkhand, for 25 years.
BCCL, a Coal India subsidiary, issued the LoI on 28 March 2025, naming JSW Steel as the successful bidder.
The agreement ensures a firm linkage of two MTPA raw coking coal and control over the Washery product. BCCL will supply raw coking coal at a 2.35 percent premium over its notified price. JSW Energy (Utkal), as a consortium partner, will purchase washery by-products at market-linked prices.
JSW Steel is also commissioning three coking coal mines in India to reduce dependence on imports and lower costs.
