Himadri Speciality Chemicals Plans 100 GW EV Battery Materials Facility for Cathode, Anode Production

Himadri Speciality Chemicals has announced plans to establish a 100-gigawatt (GW) battery materials manufacturing facility to produce cathode and anode materials for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The company is currently finalising capital expenditure plans and expects to make a formal investment announcement in the coming weeks.

Ahead of the commercial-scale rollout, Himadri has already commissioned a 400-ton pilot plant to validate manufacturing processes and support the transition to full-scale production. Cathode and anode materials together account for a significant share of an EV battery's overall composition.

Separately, the company is expanding its Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) manufacturing capacity. An earlier announced LFP plant with capacity of 40,000 tonnes per annum is now planned to be scaled up to 2,00,000 tonnes (2 lakh tonnes) per annum. The LFP business is expected to contribute a full year of operations from FY2028-29.

The combined cathode, anode and LFP investments form part of Himadri's broader strategy to build an integrated battery materials portfolio aligned with India's expanding electric vehicle supply chain.
