Himadri Speciality Chemical Unveils ₹240 Crore Capex for Carbon Nanotube and Battery Materials Expansion
Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd, alongside reporting its highest-ever quarterly revenue, EBITDA and profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, announced a combined ₹240 crore capital expenditure plan to strengthen its advanced materials portfolio through investments in Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) and Super Speciality Carbon Black (SSCB).
The company will invest around ₹70 crore to establish a 200 MTPA Carbon Nanotube manufacturing facility using in-house developed technology, scheduled for commissioning in Q4 FY27. A separate ₹170 crore capex has been approved for a Super Speciality Carbon Black facility with a production capacity of 6,000 MTPA, to be commissioned by Q4 FY28 at the company's existing Mahistikry site in West Bengal, converting a portion of its current carbon black stream.
The company has also made progress on its anthraquinone and carbazole project, with a total planned capacity of 5,300 tonnes per annum. Phase I, with a capacity of 2,600 tpa, is targeted for commissioning in Q2 FY27, while the remaining 2,700 tpa under Phase II is scheduled for Q2 FY28. The project is expected to help reduce India's dependence on imports of key materials used in dyes and pigments.
Alongside these announcements, Himadri continues to scale its new energy materials business, having commissioned a 200 MTPA anode material facility at Mahistikry in April 2026 and working toward LFP Cathode Active Material capacity of 2,000 MTPA by Q3 FY27, with an eventual ambition to scale this to 200,000 MTPA, beginning with a 40,000 MTPA Phase I. All announced capital spending across these projects, totalling around ₹2,000 crore, is expected to be funded through internal cash generation, as the company positions itself as an integrated advanced materials and energy transition solutions provider.
