High Energy Batteries expands into fuel cells, flow batteries

Infrastructure  -  Jun 12,2024  -

High Energy Batteries (India) Ltd is embarking on a strategic expansion of its product lineup to encompass fuel cells and flow batteries, with a particular emphasis on Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB), set to be employed in power generation using hydrogen and for bulk energy storage applications.

In an announcement made during the company's annual general meeting conducted via video conference, N Gopalaratnam, Chairman of High Energy Batteries, emphasized the company's proactive stance towards leveraging technological opportunities.

Gopalaratnam stated that the company is actively soliciting proposals to diversify its offerings into energy and power systems, particularly emphasizing hydrogen usage.

High Energy Batteries highlighted the pivotal role of its research and development laboratories in propelling its growth trajectory. These labs have been instrumental in meeting stringent requirements for strategic defense-related high-power, high-energy batteries across various chemistries, including silver oxide zinc, nickel cadmium, magnesium silver chloride, cuprous chloride, and metal-air systems.

This expertise has enabled the company to supply batteries for mission-critical platforms such as torpedoes, fighter aircraft, supersonic missiles, army battle tanks, UAVs, drones, autonomous underwater vehicles, and satellite launch vehicles.
