HGCL Begins Groundwork on 81 km Radial Road-2 Connecting Hyderabad ORR to Regional Ring Road
Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), the Telangana government agency developing radial and ring roads around the city, has begun groundwork on Radial Road-2, an 81 km greenfield corridor connecting Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road (ORR) to the upcoming Regional Ring Road (RRR).
The road will serve as the first of several planned radial links between the ORR and the RRR, designed to improve connectivity and support economic growth across the fast-growing Rangareddy district. It is expected to improve access to key hubs including IT clusters, Electronic City, Young India Skills University and Bharat Future City.
Phase-2 of the project, covering a 22.3 km access-controlled, 3+3 lane stretch of the corridor, has already been awarded to Larsen & Toubro (L&T). The contract, valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore, is being executed by L&T's Transportation Infrastructure business and includes construction of a 3.6 km viaduct, minor bridges, underpasses, culverts, service roads on both sides, retaining structures, stormwater drainage, footpaths, cycle tracks and landscaping.
Land acquisition for the broader Radial Road-2 alignment, including the Shabad–Kodangal stretch, has progressed after farmers in five villages gave in-principle support for handing over land. The road is expected to reshape industrial development prospects across the district as it opens up new areas to power, water and transport connectivity, key requirements for companies considering major investment in the region.
