HFCL Limited's board has approved an investment of approximately ₹215 crore to build a manufacturing facility for advanced data centre connectivity products.

The facility will produce Miniature Multi-Fibre (MMC) and Super High-Density Multi-Fibre Termination (SNMT) assemblies, which are used in hyperscale data centres and high-performance AI infrastructure for hardware cooling and bandwidth scalability applications.

The proposed plant will have an annual production capacity of 2,70,000 assemblies and is expected to be commissioned by September 2027. The investment forms part of HFCL's expansion of its manufacturing set-up for advanced data centre connectivity products, as the company looks to strengthen its position in the optical connectivity space.

HFCL currently operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Goa, Chennai and Hosur, along with in-house R&D centres in Gurugram, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The company said the convergence of AI, digital infrastructure, optical connectivity and defence modernisation is creating long-term growth opportunities, with the new facility positioning it to address rising demand from global hyperscale data centre buildouts.
