HCLTech has announced plans to set up its first AI-optimised data centre at the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park in Bhubaneswar, in partnership with Indian frontier-model company Sarvam AI and the Government of Odisha. The project carries a planned capital outlay of ₹14,257 crore, including financial assistance from the state government.

The facility will combine HCLTech's full-stack AI capabilities with Sarvam's foundation models to develop sector-specific AI applications for government and private-sector enterprises. The project is positioned as a first-of-its-kind sovereign AI infrastructure initiative in India, intended to provide secure, scalable computing capacity for AI research, model development and enterprise use, and to support delivery of multilingual AI-based services.

Separately, HCLTech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Odisha government to establish a Global Technology Center (GTC) in Bhubaneswar. The delivery hub will house 5,000 employees and is expected to begin operations by 2028, complementing the AI data centre project.

Together, the two initiatives mark HCLTech's formal entry into the AI infrastructure business and expand its delivery footprint in eastern India. Both projects were announced in the presence of the Odisha Chief Minister, with the MoU signed by HCLTech, Sarvam AI and the state government.

The investment follows HCLTech's earlier funding in Sarvam AI as part of the company's broader push into AI infrastructure, foundation models and enterprise AI tools, and adds to a series of large-scale AI data centre investments announced across Indian states in 2025-26.
