HCC Secures ₹524 Crore NHPC Contract for Salal Power Station Undersluices in Jammu & Kashmir
Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) has secured a ₹524.17 crore contract from NHPC Limited at the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir.
The project covers civil and hydro-mechanical works, along with associated ancillary and enabling works, required to make the undersluices of the concrete dam at the Salal Power Station fully functional and operational. The contract has a duration of 27 months.
The Salal Power Station is one of NHPC's key hydroelectric assets. Rehabilitation of its undersluices is expected to improve the dam's operational efficiency, sediment management, and long-term safety and reliability.
The contract adds to HCC's existing hydropower portfolio in Jammu & Kashmir, where the company earlier built the 690 MW Salal Hydroelectric Project and has executed four other hydropower projects — Uri-II (240 MW), Kishanganga (333 MW), Nimoo Bazgo (45 MW) and Chutak (44 MW) — together representing around 38% of the region's installed hydropower capacity. HCC has also built India's first cable-stayed railway bridge at Anji Khad and executed close to 32 km of tunnels for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link project.
