Gwalior-Agra Greenfield Highway work expected to begin in current fiscal year

Union Minister Ajay Tamta announced  that work on the 88.4 km six-lane greenfield highway linking Gwalior and Agra is set to commence in the current financial year.

The project, estimated at Rs 4,216 crore, aims to drastically cut travel time between Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh and Agra in Uttar Pradesh from three hours to just one hour upon completion.

Addressing reporters, Tamta highlighted Madhya Pradesh's strides in development, emphasizing the completion of the detailed project report for the Rs 4,612 crore highway.

He confirmed that tenders have been floated and expressed optimism about starting construction within the fiscal year.

Additionally, Tamta disclosed the approval for constructing a 28.8 km western bypass on Gwalior's ring road at a cost of Rs 1,004 crore. He underscored the bypass's potential to stimulate local development.

Furthermore, the minister noted the successful completion of the Gwalior-Jhansi highway project by his ministry. This initiative has already reduced travel time between the two cities to one hour, significantly enhancing connectivity and regional mobility.
