Government Approves Greenfield Shipbuilding Cluster at Porbandar and ₹1,570 Crore Ship Repair Facility at Vadinar
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has granted in-principle approval under the Shipbuilding Development Scheme (SbDS) for two major maritime projects in Gujarat: a 2,000-acre greenfield shipbuilding cluster at Kuchhadi, Porbandar, to be developed by NSHIP-Gujarat, and a ₹1,570-crore ship repair facility at Vadinar by Cochin Shipyard Limited and Deendayal Port Authority.
The projects aim to expand India's shipbuilding and repair capacity, strengthen domestic supply chains, attract investment, and support the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives.
