Godrej Consumer Products Inaugurates Asia's Largest Integrated Soap Plant with Fourth Unit at Malanpur, MP
Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has inaugurated its fourth manufacturing unit at its Malanpur complex in Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh, on August 26. The new unit was established with an investment of over ₹480 crore, taking GCPL's cumulative investment in Malanpur to more than ₹850 crore. The site now spans 65 acres.
GCPL has been operational at Malanpur since 1991. With the new unit, the facility's total soap manufacturing capacity has crossed 2 lakh metric tonnes per annum, and the plant can now produce up to 4,000 soap bars per minute, making it one of Asia's largest integrated soap manufacturing facilities.
The expanded facility will produce a range of products beyond soaps, including hair colours, household insecticides and air fresheners, covering brands such as Cinthol, Godrej No.1, GoodKnight, Godrej Aer and Godrej Expert Hair Colour.
The expansion is expected to generate direct employment for over 600 people and, once fully operational, is projected to generate an annual turnover of around ₹3,800 crore for the company.
The unit was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, in the presence of GCPL Executive Chairperson Nisaba Godrej.
