Foxconn Scouts 200-Acre Site Near Sanand, Gujarat for High-End Electronics Manufacturing Plant
Taiwan-based Foxconn (Hon Hai Technology Group) is evaluating a land parcel of more than 200 acres near Sanand in Ahmedabad district, Gujarat, for a proposed technology park and high-end electronics manufacturing facility. According to government sources, Foxconn executives have already surveyed a potential site in the area, with a final decision on the location expected in the coming weeks.
The proposed project is expected to include a mobile phone and other high-end electronics manufacturing plant. Foxconn is evaluating locations based on industrial infrastructure, connectivity, land availability and investment incentives, with Gujarat among several states under consideration.
The Gujarat government has offered customised incentives to support the proposed investment, and the state's recently announced industrial policy could be supplemented with additional sector-specific incentives for the company.
Sanand has emerged as an established manufacturing location in Gujarat, with existing industrial infrastructure that includes Tata Motors' 1,100-acre passenger vehicle plant and a growing semiconductor cluster. If finalised, the proposed facility would add to Foxconn's existing India footprint, which includes an iPhone assembly plant near Bengaluru and investments in Telangana. Gujarat also hosts an existing ₹1,54,000-crore Vedanta-Foxconn joint venture MoU for a semiconductor and display manufacturing unit at Dholera.
