Gadkari Lays Foundation for ₹3,214 Crore Highway Projects in Meghalaya

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone for highway projects worth an estimated ₹3,214 crore during the North East Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition in New Shillong, Meghalaya. The package covers four national highway projects and the upgradation of two existing road corridors.

The package includes the 7.76-km Pynursla Bypass on NH-206, valued at ₹564 crore, and the 31.7-km Selsella–Goeragre road project on NH-206, valued at ₹504 crore. It also covers the 29-km access-controlled Tura Bypass on NH-217, costed at ₹951 crore.

Additionally, the package includes upgradation of a 10.67-km section of the Shillong–Dawki Road for ₹351 crore and improvement of the 5.44-km Jowai Bypass for ₹106 crore.

The projects are intended to strengthen road connectivity within Meghalaya and with neighbouring regions, supporting smoother movement of passenger and commercial traffic across the state.
