Exide Industries Infuses ₹200 Crore Into Lithium-Ion Cell Subsidiary Exide Energy Solutions, Bengaluru
Exide Industries has invested ₹200 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), through a rights-based equity subscription. The company subscribed to 5,71,42,857 equity shares at ₹35 per share, comprising a face value of ₹10 and a premium of ₹25, on August 18, 2026.
Following this infusion, Exide Industries' cumulative investment in EESL stands at ₹5,102.23 crore, including its earlier investment in the merged subsidiary Exide Energy Private Ltd. The parent company's shareholding in EESL remains unchanged at 100 percent.
The funds are directed toward EESL's greenfield multi-gigawatt lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility being built in Bengaluru. The plant will feature four production lines covering both cylindrical and prismatic cell formats, and will manufacture cells across two chemistries: Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC). Capacity plans for the facility range between 6 GWh and 12 GWh.
The latest tranche forms part of a larger funding programme approved by Exide's board on January 30, 2026, authorising an investment of up to ₹1,400 crore in EESL across multiple tranches. The capital is earmarked for continued construction and operationalisation of the Bengaluru facility, along with EESL's working capital requirements.
EESL, incorporated on March 24, 2022, manufactures lithium-ion battery cells, modules and packs targeted at India's electric vehicle and stationary energy storage markets.
