ENGIE begins construction of 400 MW solar project in Gujarat

Power Generation  -  Dec 01,2023  -

Low-carbon energy solutions supplier Engie has announced the commencement of the construction on a 400 MW solar project in Gujarat.

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) has awarded the project in the 750 MW GUVNL Phase (XVI) auction procedure.

With an estimated $200 million investment, the solar plant would produce 907 GWh of power and discharge 774,112 tonne of carbon dioxide yearly.

In its construction phase, the project is set to be operational by the second quarter of 2024.

The company secured its position as the preferred bidder through a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) signed with GUVNL. The project reinforces ENGIE's commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio.

Once completed, it will elevate Engie's total renewable portfolio in India to 1.5 GW, spanning 18 projects across seven states.

This award showcases Engie's commitment to supporting India's energy transition plan of achieving the 500 GW clean energy goals by 2030.
