DRDO Transfers 9 Technology Licences to 13 Industry Partners for Missile and Defence Systems Production
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred nine Licensing Agreements for Transfer of Technology (LAToT) to thirteen manufacturing partners during the 'VIMARSH 2026' industry synergy meet in New Delhi. The agreements, handed over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, cover naval, aerospace and missile-related production technologies involving both public and private sector firms.
Among the technologies transferred is a multi-influence ground mine designed to target stealth ships and submarines, which will be co-produced by defence PSU Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) and Hyderabad-based Apollo Micro Systems Ltd. Three private explosive manufacturers — Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd, Premier Explosives Pvt Ltd and Salvo Industries Pvt Ltd — were selected to produce propellant and igniter systems for the booster and sustainer motors of short-range anti-ship missiles.
Apollo Micro Systems Ltd and Ananth Technologies Pvt Ltd received technology for the Semi Active Homing Laser System (SALHS), a precision guidance component used in laser-guided bombs, missiles and artillery shells. Additional technologies handed over included a ZnTe (Zinc Telluride) Single Crystal Growth system for explosives and chemical detection, a Hydro Suit for submarine escape operations, a Heavy Drop System for C-130 and C-17 transport aircraft, an Electronic Activation Device, a Wireless Control cum Actuation System, and a Smart Helmet for battlefield communication.
Defence Secretary and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh said DRDO has cumulatively signed over 2,300 technology transfers with more than 1,100 industries to date, and that production technologies for 50 DRDO-developed missile systems have now been made available to industry partners as part of the government's broader push toward self-reliant defence manufacturing.
