Deepak Nitrite Subsidiary Approves ₹2,500 Crore Greenfield BPA Manufacturing Plant

Chemicals Aug 05,2026

Deepak Nitrite Limited's subsidiary, Deepak Chem Tech Limited, has approved a major expansion into Bisphenol A (BPA) manufacturing. The Board of Directors of Deepak Chem Tech cleared the project on August 4, 2026, approving an estimated investment of ₹2,500 crore for a greenfield manufacturing complex with capacity of up to 240 KTA, along with associated infrastructure.

The approval follows earlier board decisions to establish India's first Polycarbonate resin manufacturing plant, using technology licensed from Trinseo, and to set up a Phenol & Acetone manufacturing unit. With the addition of the BPA facility, Deepak Nitrite is building an integrated platform spanning Cumene to Phenol & Acetone, BPA, and Polycarbonate resin, including downstream compounding.

The vertical integration strategy is intended to secure captive BPA supply for the company's Polycarbonate resin production while also positioning it to serve external markets. BPA is primarily used in the manufacture of Epoxy resins, a segment the company is targeting given rising domestic demand.

The estimated ₹2,500 crore investment will be firmed up upon completion of detailed engineering studies, with project financing structured through a mix of debt and equity.
