DCX Chrome and Vishnu Chemicals Form 50:50 JV for Greenfield Chromium Metal Plant in Visakhapatnam
DCX Chrome, a global producer of high-purity aluminothermic chromium metal and specialized chromium powders, has executed a definitive Joint Venture Agreement with Vishnu Chemicals Limited (VCL), an Indian specialty chemical manufacturer, to establish a new greenfield chromium metal production facility in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The two partners will each hold a 50 per cent stake in the joint venture company, which will be consolidated by the Delachaux Group.
The facility is planned with an installed production capacity of 6,000 metric tonnes per annum of high-purity chromium metal. The project will combine DCX Chrome's metallurgical technology and operational expertise with Vishnu Chemicals' integrated raw material capabilities and industrial footprint in India.
Demand for high-purity chromium metal continues to grow across strategic industries including aerospace, energy and defence. Through the joint venture, DCX Chrome aims to expand its global manufacturing footprint and strengthen supply-chain resilience while supporting customers with additional production capacity.
Fernando Accioly, CEO of DCX Chrome, said the venture combines the company's aluminothermic technology and over 80 years of industrial expertise with VCL's operational strength and raw material supply to create a manufacturing platform serving global customers. Kishna Murthy Cherukuri, Chairman and Managing Director of Vishnu Chemicals, said the partnership advances the company's growth strategy and contributes to India's push for self-reliance in specialty chemicals manufacturing. No project investment figure or construction timeline was disclosed.
