Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Gets Expert Panel Backing for Oragadam Plant Expansion in Tamil Nadu

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has received a fresh recommendation for environmental clearance to expand its Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu. A state expert appraisal committee made the recommendation. The committee resolved two disputes that had stalled the proposal for more than a year.

The recommendation is a step towards final clearance for the expansion. The sources reviewed do not give the investment size, added capacity, product lines or construction timeline.

DICV, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck, runs an integrated manufacturing and R&D facility at Oragadam near Chennai. The campus covers about 400 acres and houses truck and bus manufacturing and R&D operations.

Equipment suppliers, EPC contractors and engineering consultants can track the project as it moves from clearance to execution. Scope and timeline will be known once the company or the state government gives details.
