Cupid Breweries and Distilleries Ltd has formally approached the Government of Sikkim, seeking land and necessary licenses to establish a new manufacturing facility for beer, IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor), and malt spirits. The company’s new management recently met with officials and received a letter of interest from the Director of MSME, Commerce & Industries, Government of Sikkim, dated August 2, 2024.
The government has given a preliminary agreement to allocate suitable land for the project once identified. The proposed facility will involve a substantial capital investment and is projected to directly employ around 100 individuals, with additional indirect job opportunities expected. The venture aims to significantly contribute to Sikkim’s revenue through taxes.
The next steps include obtaining various approvals, such as an industrial license from the Commerce & Industries Department, a brewery license from the Excise Department, and environmental clearances from the Sikkim Pollution Control Board.
This update highlights the new management’s ongoing efforts to advance the company’s expansion plans.
