Manufacturing  -  Sep 20,2024  -

Copeland, a leader in sustainable climate solutions, has announced a ₹500 crore (US$60 million) investment in India to enhance its manufacturing facility in Atit, Maharashtra, and to establish a new global R&D center in Pune. This investment aims to expand engineering capabilities, boost production of Copeland's compression solutions, and foster innovation in sustainable heating, cooling, refrigeration, and industrial applications.

The expansion will introduce an advanced scroll compressor line designed to serve both the domestic market and key international markets in the region. Over the next five years, Copeland will increase its existing Pune facility by 7,350 square meters and add a 15,000 square meter R&D center focused on developing climate solutions for customers.

"India is a critical growth market for us, and this expansion highlights our commitment to the region and innovation," stated Ross B. Shuster, CEO of Copeland. "These investments will enhance our production capacity and shorten lead times for our customers while supporting India's energy and environmental objectives."

The introduction of Copeland's award-winning scroll compressors in India will improve cooling and refrigeration technologies for local clients. The company's expanded R&D initiatives will contribute to a more sustainable future, aligning with global trends such as the transition to electrification, the use of low-GWP and natural refrigerants, and the enhancement of cold chain efficiency for perishable goods and medical products.
