Chambal Fertilisers Starts Weak Nitric Acid Unit at Gadepan TAN Project
Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited has commenced production of weak nitric acid at its Gadepan complex in Kota district, Rajasthan. The start-up of the Weak Nitric Acid unit represents the first production milestone in the company's Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) project, which is being developed as an integrated manufacturing complex at the same site.
Weak nitric acid serves as a key upstream raw material within the TAN production chain. Its successful commissioning enables the sequential start-up of downstream processing units. In the phases that follow, Chambal Fertilisers plans to bring on stream the ammonium nitrate solution unit and the prilled high-density ammonium nitrate unit, completing the integrated production sequence at Gadepan.
The project is being executed in a structured, phased manner, with each unit commissioned in sequence to allow progressive operational ramp-up and optimisation of the production process. The commissioning of the Weak Nitric Acid unit confirms that the project is proceeding according to plan.
Once fully operational, the TAN complex at Gadepan is expected to strengthen Chambal Fertilisers' presence in the industrial chemicals segment. Technical ammonium nitrate finds application in the mining, infrastructure, and construction sectors, where it is used primarily as a blasting agent.
